Easter is just around the corner, less than 60 days away! Unlike previous years, I'm ready and eagerly anticipating the festivities. The approaching holiday prompted me to discover these delightful spring rub-on transfers, and without hesitation, I added them to my cart, anxiously awaiting their arrival. Impatience gets the better of me when I have a project in mind.
My first encounter with rub-on transfers was during Christmastime, and I might be hooked. However, not all rub-on transfers are created equal, as I learned while working on these cute bunny pictures for spring. I'll even share the pitfalls, so let's dive in.
Rub on Transfer Spring Craft
Supplies:
- 1 set Spring rub on transfers
- Scrapbook paper of your choice (I found a book at Walmart with great pages)
- Scissors
- Picture frame
Instructions:
- Choose your desired scrapbook paper and cut it to the frame size. Using the paper from inside the frame ensures the perfect fit. I used 5x7 frames for my bunny pictures.
- Cut the rabbit rub-on transfer, staying close to the image.
- Peel the back off the rub on transfer.
- Place it in the desired location on the paper.
- Add the paper and rub-on transfer art to the frame—voila! You now have some charming spring art for your walls or tables.
Wasn't that easy? Now, where did I go wrong? I initially expected the rub-on transfer to behave like the IOD transfers I used for Christmas, but it wasn't the case.
As you can see, when I tried to peel away the top of the rub on transfer, it also removed the paper. Yikes! I was not prepared for that. I share the good, the bad, and the ugly so you won't be surprised if you attempt this.
How did I fix this without wasting a transfer? I pressed the rub on transfer back to the paper, and then I cut out around the bunny decal and added it to a new piece of scrapbook paper, then framed it. Not too shabby, despite my blunder. I even left a hint of blue paper around the edges for added dimension.
At first I thought huh... I am not so sure I like these rub on transfers, but THEN... I had an epiphany! If you cut carefully around the rub-on transfer, the protective coating stays on top, safeguarding your design. When I used the IOD rub on transfers, I had to apply wax over the transfer sticker for protection, making this a better choice in my opinion. If you've worked with craft transfers before, I'd love to hear your thoughts.
While spring and Easter might seem distant for some, I wanted to share this easy rub-on transfer craft project now in case you'd like to give it a try. Seasonal items sell out quickly, and in the past, I'd often miss out on supplies. Here we are, delving into spring and Easter before Valentine's Day even arrives. I seems I am either late or early to the party.
I was pleased with the quantity of rub-on transfers I received for the price in this set. I'm even considering a series of blog posts to share ideas you can create with this particular set of decals. Let me know if you'd like more on rub-on transfers; I believe they elevate crafting to the next level.

These are so beautiful, Cara! I've never tried transfers like these before so I'm excited to try them now and to see else you have in mind too. I love how you added the transfers to so many pretty springtime papers as well. They look fabulous and would make such a fun gift idea. Thanks for the inspiration sweet friend, I feel like I need to get crafting now! Hugs, CoCo
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you liked them CoCo, I had a lot of fun working on these once I got the hang of it. Christmas was my first working with transfers, and I kind of love how they elevate my projects. You will have to let me know if you give them a try and if you like them. I have seen your Planter's decor, and I love it all Debbie! I saw a nut business with all vintage tins, and I fell in love! There is something about old tins that always calls to me, I think I am just an old soul searching for the past so I can bring it all into our home. ;)
DeleteI've never used transfers before, Cara, but yours came out beautiful. Those bunnies are absolutely adorable!
ReplyDeleteThank you Ann, I am thinking of all sorts of projects so I can share all things spring. Spring decorating is a close second to Christmas for me, I love the pinks, and pale greens, buttery yellow, and lavenders. Bunnies always remind me of my mom so I like to sprinkle them through our decor too.
DeleteThese came out great Cara! Love them. I appreciate you showing what can go wrong & how to fix it. Lovely Easter decor. I always struggle with the timing too so you’re not alone sister. lol. Have a great day. XO- MaryJo
ReplyDeleteDo you know how nice it is to hear I am not alone in getting things ready. I always see other's work, and I am like... so nice to have it all together! lol. Thank you MaryJo, I am working on a new project as we speak. Have a great week my friend!
DeleteYour bunny pictures are precious! I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who has projects go wrong, lol!! Can't wait to see what else you do for Spring! I'm still in Valentine's mode but this gets me excited for the change to Spring! Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteHi Donna, I skipped right over Valentine's Day and winter this year. Spring always makes me feel renewed when the grass changes green, and the leaves begin popping out, the rabbits have babies in our yard, and the flowers begin to bloom... it all just seems so magical. I am loving your Valentine's projects, you are always so clever with new ideas!
DeleteCara,
ReplyDeleteMe again!! Thanks so much for stopping by!! And thanks so much for your sweet words about the Twins...We are quite enamored with them!! I hope you are having a great week!!

I can imagine so Debbie! Despite the fact we were not able to have children, I still enjoy seeing how they bring happiness to others. I am just betting those twins will be spoiled, did you get to help in decorating their nursery? I imagine it would be so much fun! Have a wonderful rest of your week, and happy weekend!
