Whimsy Home Wednesday No. 44

Welcome to the Whimsy Home Wednesday Link Party. Today we are sharing the chosen posts from Whimsy Home Wednesday No. 43.

Hey y'all!  How are you today?

Several months ago, I ventured out to a barn sale.  I picked up this The Century Illustrated Monthly Magazine, the particular one I share photos of today was from May 1892.  Talk about a beautiful cover, and such attention to detail.

I love publications such as this, I have leafed through this magazine a few times, but have the intensions of sitting down and actually reading it soon.  I find the past so fascinating at times, especially when it comes to home decor.

The lady I purchased these magazines from, had three in a bundle, and how cute was it that she even included a rose with all three books bundled together to place on the coffee table.  I thought it was a nice touch.

I was so happy to find a pup gracing the halls of the Brown home, looks like he may have had a rowdy rump running about since the rug is a bit skewed.  What do you think?

I especially love the arched opening, the landing as you continue up the stairs, a settee to sit for a spell before venturing out in the elements, and how could we ever forget that chandelier.  Beautiful!  I especially love the curves.

The one thing I have to keep reminding myself as I read, is that I am not reading from history's point of view, but that the goings on are in present day, present day 1892 that is.  It has been an interesting perspective for me, but I am one to over analyze ideas and thoughts many times over, getting lost in in my own mind pondering what I read.

  1. Cara, thank you for hosting. I love all the details in that magazine.
I noticed the front door was open in the picture with the pup. It made me think the pup was relaxing, enjoying the breeze entering through the front door. I love that she included a rose, so pretty.
