Welcome to the Whimsy Home Wednesday Link Party. Today we are sharing the chosen posts from Whimsy Home Wednesday No. 39.
G'day sunshine! How are you doing today?
I am finer than frog hair, something my grandfather used to say, teehee.... in case you ever wonder what is that crazy gal up to these days... I thought I would catch you up!
Bentley and I have been working on our suntans. As you can see, he loves it. Nope, we do not treat our backyard as you can see all of the clover surrounding us which might I add, helps the bees. Just ask Bentley, he was stung recently. This kiddo also likes to eat grass, and we want him to stay away from chemicals that may be harmful to him so we deal with the weeds, and welcome the bees to do their thang.
A gentleman who works with my husband asked if he would be interested in a vintage tabletop, no legs, just the top. Of course, his thought was no... but can you believe he actually asked me, and of course I said, "HECK YEAH"! I need it! There was a whole conversation about it, and my need for this tabletop. I can be quite convincing, let me tell you. Especially since you can see we have this lovely top now.
The thought is that it may have come from a high school workshop, even better if you ask me. It is well built, seen better days, and is heavy as an elephant. Or that is my thought on the situation since I had to help carry the darn thing. This ole' guy is getting a makeover as we speak!
If you have a table, then you really need legs for it, am I right? Well, I just happened to have 4 legs in our basement lying around. Don't ask, but if you know me, then you know how possible this is. You see, I had this idea years ago... and well, here we are.
I cannot say I have ever taken new furniture and made it appear old, but here we go again, another DIY project. Can't have new legs with a vintage tabletop, can we? No siree, so I have been working on aging these fellas. This old dog is learning new tricks!
Then I picked up this DIY embroidery piece with birds of course, as you can see, I have made it far, right? No idea what I am doing, I have never worked on anything like this, but I will figure it out, may take me 5 years, but I will get there. I love learning new things. Yep, it drives my family nuts since I am the gal who says oh, I want to learn x, y, z... doesn't matter what it is, I want to know. Welding, woodworking, construction, I said I want to know ALL the things!
Well, that is the long and the short of some of the things we have been busy working on this summer. Can't wait to share more when we have them completed.

This week I chose to feature Cecilia with My Thrift Store Addiction, and her DIY Olla & Pollinator Puddler. With some of the temps across the US these days, you just may want to take a look at Cecilia's project.
I was enlightened, and can't wait to try one of my own! You may want to give it a try too, so easy, and affordable when you do not buy, but DIY! This pot is cute, and has purpose, go ahead and hop on over, I will be here when you get back...

ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed your post and I learned something new which I always love. Thank you, I cannot wait for it to be completed either. Who knew the legs would take so long? I am sanding them by hand, I like to think I am adding that vintage charm into those legs lovingly so it goes with the tabletop seamlessly.
DeleteGlad you snagged the vintage tabletop! It's super cool!
ReplyDeleteThanks Niky, I hope it turns out how I envision it will.
DeleteThat tabletop is awesome! Love that you and Bentley have been enjoying the sunshine. We had a neighbor who would bring us some honey that his little Bees made. It was always such a treat. They work so hard, and I love when they visit my garden.
ReplyDeleteThank you Stephanie, I am kind of in love with the tabletop, and those legs are coming in at a close second. I had no idea it would take so long to get the look I wanted, but it is turning out to be quite the learning experience which I love.
DeleteCara,

Thank you Debbie, I am loving how it is coming together. I was happy to get the legs out of the basement, funny how things come together, isn't it? I had legs, and no tabletop, then a tabletop came along with no legs. I always knew I wanted to make a table, I had a large farmhouse table in mind... guess we will see how he turns out. Yep, calling the table a fella. teehee.... hope you are doing well and enjoying your summer.
DeleteSo much fun seeing you and Bentley living the good life, Cara! I love that you learn new things. I've always wanted to learn how to do embroidery and I'm excited about your table as well. It looks like it's going to be such a special piece. Hugs, CoCo
