Now, speaking of changes, let me spill the beans on the recent happenings around this cozy little cottage. Brace yourselves, folks, because things are getting really exciting... well, maybe not the rollercoaster-ride exciting, but still pretty darn necessary to match our plans.
You see, there was this Rottweiler running amok in our neighborhood, causing a bit of a ruckus. Naturally, we decided it was high time to put up a driveway gate before he met face to face with our Bentley, who knows how that would end? Little did we know that this simple project would snowball into a series of "Eureka!" moments. Isn't it funny how one thing leads to another? It's like a domino effect of home improvements.
Now, let me take you back to the early days when we first moved here. We had these five yews lining the parking pad off our driveway. They were doing an okay job of keeping prying eyes out, but we craved more privacy from the nosy alley dwellers. That's when we hatched a genius plan to let those bushes grow into a massive hedge. We were all set to say "Asta la Vista baby!" and shield ourselves from the outside world.
But wait, there's more! Once the gate was on the schedule to be installed, we thought it'd be wise to have a clean view of Bentley, our mischievous pup, wherever he romped in the yard. So, we made the executive decision to bid farewell to the shrubs. No more sneaky pup getting away with shenanigans under our noses!
Now, I have to confess, when we first embarked on this shrub-removal adventure, we didn't immediately think of calling Kevin from Arbor Barber. We knew he was the go-to guy for tree removal since we had worked with him before, but we figured our little potato-sized job might not catch his fancy. So, we tried a bunch of other folks, got a quote, and experienced the classic "no show" and "no call back" routine. Ugh, talk about frustration.
But then, a lightbulb moment struck! I turned to my husband and said, "Hey, what about Kevin? He's a tree mastermind, afterall." And guess what? We hit the jackpot! Kevin came to our rescue not once, not twice, but thrice. He has swooped in to remove trees big and small, and now he is our bush-beating hero.
Let me tell you a little tale. A few years back, a wild storm wreaked havoc in our hometown, leaving trees strewn all over the place. But fear not, Kevin was there to save the day. He swiftly tackled a colossal tree that had taken up residence on our rental property. No dilly-dallying or putting us on the back burner like other tree whisperers in town. Nope, Kevin was our knight in shining armor, ensuring we did not have to worry about more branches crashing down in the next storm.
In fact, Kevin has a knack for removing trees that would make even Paul Bunyan proud. He bid farewell to a mighty tree at our rental property and even took down our beloved magnolia at home. Let me tell you, parting ways with that magnificent magnolia was tough, but we couldn't find anyone willing to trim it. Landscapers said it was too ginormous for them, and the big shots in town laughed at my plea for help. Rude, right?
True story, one day, as a local tree company was busy removing trees from our neighbor's property, I had a thought and asked them if they'd be up for the challenge of trimming our beloved magnolia. Their response? A chuckle and a hesitant, I'd have to talk to the boss". Seriously guys, what's so hilarious about a majestic magnolia?
So, that's when my husband dialed up Kevin, and you know what? He said, "No problem, I've got this". That's the spirit, Kevin! He swung by, gave us a prompt quote (always fair, mind you), and got us on his jam-packed schedule in a jiffy. Trust me, folks, that's a rare find these days.
During trip #2, the magnolia and our mysterious forsythia bush disappeared into thin air. Who needs a massive magnolia anyway? And whoever thought a forsythia bush belonged at the midpoint of our driveway with no others to keep it company? Keep reading on for a wild ride of more botanical vanishing acts!
Last Friday, Kevin strutted in for the quote, and guess what? He was back on Monday, ready to kick some bushy butt. His crew was polite as can be, making sure they understood our vision before they went to work. Let me tell you, they were lightening-fast. In just about 35 minutes, we bid farewell to all seven bushes and they ground those pesky stumps to oblivion. Of course, I played the role of the inquisitive documentarian, capturing every step of the process in photos and videos. Gotta feed that curious mind, right?
So folks, when it comes to tree care and bush removing adventures, Kevin Miller and his team at Arbor Barber Tree Care are the real MVPs. Don't waste your time with flaky contractors and sky-high prices. Give these green-thumb geniuses a call, and prepare to me amazed. Trust me, your yard will thank you later.
Oh, the conundrum of our "new" yard! With the shrubs gone, the possibilities are endless, and our heads are buzzing with a million ideas. How on earth do we narrow to just a few? Brace yourselves for a brainstorming session that will make your creative senses tingle!
Well, well, well look who's got some plans up his sleeve for the yard! Is someone feeling a tad miffed about the disappearance of his shrubby pals? Don't worry, Wonderpup, you'll get used to it soon enough.
Meanwhile, we humans are contemplating our next move. Picture this: a fabulous patio where those pesky shrubs used to reside. It's not set in stone yet (pun intended), but we're cooking up some grand ideas. Get ready for the ultimate outdoor hangout spot for the whole family!
Yard looks great Cara. When shrubs get overgrown I agree they need removed. Looking forward to your new ideas for that area. Mykela
ReplyDeleteI was so pleased with Kevin's work I wanted to share his company. I was amazed how quickly he was able to put us on his schedule each and every time we have worked with him. We wanted a clear view of Bentley running around since he can get into mischief pretty quickly, and since we have had everything else removed from our yard, we decided the other two bushes needed to go too and begin with a clean slate. We have no idea what we are going to do with the yard yet, but I have many ideas. Of course, this is never good since I have to narrow all of those ideas down to what we actually do!
