Welcome to the Whimsy Home Wednesday Link Party. Today we are sharing the chosen posts from Whimsy Home Wednesday No. 31.
Did you enjoy the Memorial Day weekend? I went for a ride with my mother and grandmother on Friday to put flowers on my grandfather's grave. It was a nice day to get out for a ride, minus the fact they were mowing, and grass and I do not go hand in hand these days.
Do you know all of the information you can find out about your family by visiting People Legacy? The reason I decided to share this today is that I have been down a rabbit hole recently. I have traced my heritage as far back to Clay Cross, Derbyshire, England. How exciting it was for me to learn since I am a HUGE fan of English and British design. I guess there is a reason for this afterall, it's in my genes lol.
When I say I have been down a rabbit hole, I mean it truly. I have been able to research a bit of my husband's side of the family, but I cannot find much information about his grandfather's side. I kept hitting roadblocks which was frustrating for me since I like to know all the things.
Somehow, a good portion of my family's information was waiting there for me to find. I found great and great-great grandparents, siblings, marriages, births, deaths, and then I began clicking on other family members, and hence you see how the rabbit hole grows. I also found a good bit of information on WikiTree, this is how I was actually able to trace my family back to Clay Cross. I find all of this information so intriguing, so in case you do as well, you can check it out for yourself and see where your linage comes from if you do not already know.
I knew my maternal grandmother's side came from England, but that is all the information I really knew. An entire country is not very helpful, but now I know I can begin sifting through information in Clay Cross to see what all I can learn. I will share if I find anything noteworthy to share.
Whimsical Home Projects From Our Features
Congratulations to the featured posts of Whimsy Home Wednesday! I enjoy being able to visit each post to see what other's are up to around the web. This week wasn't any different than any other week for me. So difficult to make a decision on just one post.
This week I chose to feature Julie, with Julie's Creative Lifestyle, How to Re-Grow Lettuce. Did you know this was even possible? You gardeners out there were probably already aware, but I was amazed, in awe, and ready to jump up and down because I love lettuce! Even these two black thumbs think I just may be able to pull it off. So hurry on over, and see how you too can regrow lettuce!

DeleteOh yes, that family tree research is definitely a rabbit hole I've also fallen into! It's fun though! Hope to have more time do dig back into mine again soon. :-)
ReplyDeleteI had no idea I could find information on those two sites until I began digging a bit. I was trying to locate my great-great grandparents graves, and low and behold, I was able to trace us back to Clay Cross. Of course, when I mentioned this to my grandmother, she knew all about Clay Cross, and the names of the streets our family members lived on. She amazes me at nearly 101, and she still remembers so much. I am lucky if I remember when I did 5 minutes ago!
